It’s been over six months since my wife, Nicci, and I watched the last of of our “30 Chick Flicks in 30 Days“, but the results of the challenge are ongoing.
The most recent example reached me via email approximately one month ago.
A mother in Romania wrote to share with us that she, and her daughter had a chick flick experience all their own.
If you thought watching 30 chick flicks was a challenge, try writing a book!
After drafting the beginnings of a manuscript, I learned what I had in fact written was another blog, and not a book. It turns out that there is a difference.
The former is to the point in a matter of (Web) pages. The latter is to the point in several hundred pages.
So, needless to say, I’ve started over and I am now learning how to write a book in the process.
Now that I’ve seen all “30 Chick Flicks In 30 Days” some reflection, and insight from the past month is in order.
Specifically, favorite movies, favorite soundtrack, and the most sensual kisses; in addition to the most memorable viewing experience, most memorable lines, and biggest surprise. Read the rest of this entry »
Welcome to day 15! Effective today, I’m halfway through all of the chick flicks that I’m scheduled to watch before Valentine’s Day, next month.
Tonight’s movie is “(500) Days of Summer”, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and Zooey Deschanel. It debuted last year, and was produced by Fox Searchlight Pictures, et al.
My mother-in-law, Tiffany, @SarahSpain, @DjHyperAktive, and @Clarabela recommended this chick flick. My wife, Nicci, and I plan to watch the movie from a DVD loaned to us by family.
This movie is another example of a title that I might have never known about had it not been for this 30-day challenge.
With that said…
“Georgia Rule” is no light-hearted fare, although it does have its moments of humor. Further, it is one of the heavier emotional chick flicks that I’ve seen thus far.
Jane Fonda plays a convincing grandmother, Georgia, for her on-screen grand-daughter, Lindsay Lohan’s character, Rachel. Read the rest of this entry »
“(Sophie), I think you are way too talented, and gifted, and unusual to let anyone keep you from (being you),” Alex said.
“That’s wonderfully sensitive, Alex. Especially from a man that wears such tight pants,” she breathed.
“It forces all the blood to my heart,” he said.
So goes the quippy, and playful banter between Hugh Grant’s character, Alex, and Drew Barrymore’s character, Sophie, throughout the film, “Music and Lyrics“. Read the rest of this entry »

According to Jami Bernard, film critic and author of Chick Flicks: A Movie Lover’s Guide to the Movies Women Love, “men…would rather choke on a beer pretzel than go to a Chick Flick.”
Okay—two questions: first, what does that say about me (a guy) wanting to watch not a chick flick, but 30 chick flicks? Second, who are these men?
Twenty-seven days from today the first chick flick will be watched, or experienced—whatever word you use when you view a movie made for women. Either word, either way, there’s no turning back 27 days from today.
Understand, I’m a guy, and I’ve watched chick flicks before. But this time it’s different. This time…it’s personal.
