About
How far would you go to understand the opposite sex?
That question has helped to fuel the idea behind this site, “30 Chick Flicks in 30 Days: One Guy’s Exploration of Romance Through Movies Loved by Women”.
First, you should know that I’m that “guy” exploring these films. Second, my name is Nick. I’m a husband, and have been for seven years. Third, no one put me up to this. And fourth, I’m not some professional film critic. I live in a small town in southern Oklahoma. I work in communications.
This little experiment will begin Friday, Jan. 15, 2010, and conclude on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2010—the day before Valentine’s Day. That’s 30-straight days; 30-straight chick flicks.
I’ve never done anything like this before so I’m not exactly sure what to expect, but here’s the plan:
a) a different chick flick will be viewed each night, throughout the 30 days
b) each film will then be reviewed—either in writing, via video, or both—on this site the following morning
c) the movies I watch must be first-time views for me
d) movies can date back no further than 2007
e) the movies I watch can be viewed online, from a DVD, or in a theater
f) 5 of the films will be chosen by myself, 10 chosen by a pre-selected “panel” of women—my wife, mother-in-law, and mother, and 15 chosen by everyone else
This includes you—the reader. You’re invited to join-in as much as you want, or as much as your schedule will allow.
Whether it’s selecting movies for me to watch, adding your own comments to this site, or following along on Twitter, there’s an opportunity for you to get involved.
Note: if you’re interested in experiencing this for all it’s worth, I encourage you to take the “30 Chick Flicks Challenge”
